CYBER security was the buzzword at the Organisation Of Islamic Cooperation -Computer Emergency Response Team's 4th Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting 2012 held in Muscat, Oman
recently. The event, which was hosted by the Oman National Computer Emergency Readiness Team and jointly organised by CyberSecurity Malaysia, drew interest from participants of 20 countries.

This year's theme "Cyber Security Against Emerging Threats" augurs well with the efforts of the OIC-CERT to address the uprising issues of emerging cyber threats and the ways to mitigate such threats. "Security researchers found that the best defence against the growing cyber threats is by cooperative education and awareness, best-of-breed tools and robust policies that nurture collaborative effort between the industry, academia and government," said General Tan Sri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohamed, chairman of CyberSecurity Malaysia who is also the chair of OIC-CERT, in his opening speech at the event.

At the AGM, OIC-CERT signed a memorandum of understanding with the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team, which will see the organisations working together in holding annual cyber drills.
