KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 (Bernama)CyberSecurity Malaysia has been re-elected to the steering committee of the Asia-Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT) at the 10th APCERT annual general meeting and conference 2013 in Brisbane, Australia.

APCERT is a collaboration of 30 Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERT) from 20 economies within the Asia-Pacific since 2003. The event, hosted by CERT Australia, was held from March 24-27, 2013.

CyberSecurity Malaysia chairman, General Tan Sri Mohd Azumi Mohamed (retired), said the theme for this year's event, 'Then, Now and Beyond' was appropriate with the emergence of new threats in the cyber security.

"We cannot stand idle and wait for cyber attacks. We must continue to formulate initiatives and build collective capabilities to fight these emerging threats by sharing information and working together to safeguard our cyber space, our privacy, our ideas and innovation," he said in a statement today.

He said in creating a safe, clean and reliable cyber space, APCERT will have to continue examining various cyber threats and strategising in mitigating these threats.
